Pumpkin Picking

We seem to go at exactly the same time during the month of October every year to go get our pumpkins and this year the weather was about 20 degrees cooler than last year! I was super happy about this because it felt more like an actual fall activity haha

Andie was so excited to go pick pumpkins, especially since we told her she could pick her very own little pumpkin to put in her room πŸ™‚ We headed straight to the back of Hunt Club Farm where they keep all the little pumpkins for the kids to pick and let her go!

She ended up picking one and then two more because well, Daddy can’t say no to that little girl. Then we went and picked out two larger pumpkins for our front porch. The two extra little pumpkins ended up working out perfectly because they have a spot on our fireplace!

$25 later, we left with our pumpkins and a big smile from our little girl who got to hold her little pumpkin all the way home πŸ™‚

What are your favorite family fall activities?! Would love some more ideas πŸ™‚

Ocean Isle Beach, NC

This past week, we were lucky enough to have a relaxing family vacation with some of Daniel’s relatives in Ocean Isle Beach, NC. I’d never been but after our trip, I definitely want to go back! Ocean Isle is about 5.5 hours from us (closer to 6 or so with a toddler who needs potty breaks) and is just south of Wilmington. We brought sandwiches and snacks with us so we didn’t have to stop to eat on the way down (why haven’t we always done that?!) and thankfully, we have the best little traveler – Andie slept for a little while, ate, played on her tablet, and was totally content.

As we drove in to Ocean Isle, you drive over this big bridge and at the top you can see the island with all the water and houses–it was so pretty! Daniel’s dad and stepmom rented a house just 2 rows back from the beach so we were really close to the beach access. The house itself, which I forgot to take a picture of :(, Β had 5 bedrooms and a decent sized pool in the back. It was such a great location and for the majority of the time, there was 7 people and 2 dogs (Daniel’s brother, his wife, and our nephew came the night before we left) which you think would be crowded but it wasn’t at all!

Every day we had a slow morning and then would head to the beach around 11:30. I would pack Andie a lunch so she could eat at the beach under the umbrella and we didn’t have to worry about carting her back and forth to the house. She’d play for a little while and then she happily scarfed down a sandwich and some fruit and would go right back to playing! Daniel brought his longboard so he was able to catch a few waves (I even went out there with him some and stood up a few times haha) and the cutest was watching him stick Andie on there. She ran back to me as they were coming out of the water and said, “Mommy, I’m a surfer girl!” haha Β Andie also always had to have her Aunt Sarah help her jump the waves, Uncle Josh to build drip sand castles, and was attached to Grandma Emma πŸ™‚ We had perfect weather every day we were there so our beach time was awesome!

We usually headed to the pool after Andie woke up from her nap and would hang out there for a little while and then it was time to shower, get dressed, and have dinner. I think most nights the adults would eat dinner after Andie went to bed and we’d have fun talking, drinking, and eating. On our second to last night, we went out to eat at a place called the Ocean Isle Fish Company–it was SO good. The restaurant was right on the water and the food was delicious. Andie ate really well and we all loved our dishes. Daniel’s dad, our brother-in-law Josh, and Daniel ordered this amazing seafood chowder that I’d love some more of!!

It was just such a relaxing and fun time; we’d all love to go back. We actually have another beach trip coming up in a few weeks with my family in Ocracoke, NC and we’re really looking forward to that as well! You’d think that we would be sick of the beach since we live at the beach but we actually have hardly been this summer! It’s been SO hot that we really haven’t done that many outdoor activities lately so its been nice getting out to the beach and enjoying it because we really love it.

On our way out of Ocean Isle Beach, we stopped to grab some Smithfield’s BBQ to take home with us for dinner that night. Always a good decision so if you’re ever in NC, make sure you do yourself a favor and get some Smithfield’s! We made it back home right at 6 PM, ate dinner, I completely unpacked everything (!!), and had a great night of sleep. Andie didn’t wake up until 9 AM the next morning and Daniel made us pancakes for breakfast so basically it was the best way to get back to reality.

Where’s your favorite place to vacation during the summer??

Hello…againΒ

I keep getting re-inspired to jump back in to blogging and then totally just fall off the face of the Earth after a few posts -_- Maybe I should actually try to schedule/plan posts? To kick off my return I thought it’d be fun to do a little “10 Things You Might Not Know About Me.”

  1. I don’t like onions, chicken pot pie, or fruit pies unless they are cherry, blueberry, or strawberry.
  2. I have seen every single episode of Murder, She Wrote at least 3 times
  3. I got the idea for my daughter’s name while in high school after watching How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days
  4. I’m an introvert with extroverted tendencies
  5. I can’t whistle, wink, or blow up a balloon – so embarrassing, I know
  6. I took classical voice lessons from about 6th – 9th grade
  7. My husband and I started dating when I was 14 and he was 16 haha
  8. I’ve never had a cavity or sprained/broke anything on my body despite playing sports growing up
  9. I LOVE chocolate — there is never such a thing as “too much” chocolate like my husband says -_-
  10. I don’t drink coffee. I can never get past the taste! My go-to Sbux drink is a chai latte and during the fall/winter I get a caramel chai latte ❀

We are leaving tomorrow for a trip to Ocean Isle, NC with family through most of the week so I can’t wait to share about our little vacation when we get back! Happy Saturday πŸ™‚

Long Time No See!

Hello! Anybody still out there? haha I can’t believe how awful I have been about keeping up with this blog. I always have these grandiose plans for this space and it never seems to come together -_-

I’d love to start getting back into posting somewhat regularly so I’m coming up with a plan to make that happen! We’ve been busy over here lately and I’ll have some more things to write about – like the fact that we just purchased our first home! YAY! πŸ™‚ We’ve already had projects going on there and finally moved in earlier this month. I think it’ll be fun to use this space to document some of our home projects/ideas/etc. not only to share but also so I have something to refer to and look back on. I mean….it’s our first home! I spend a lot of time on Pinterest these days looking for inspiration (what did we do before Pinterest came along?!?!).

I’ll likely go back and post Andie’s monthly photos as well before she turns 2 in a few weeks–AHHH!! I probably won’t write blog posts with them because I’m just soooo far behind but I may write a little blurb similar to, if not exactly the same as, what I’ve written when I posted them to Facebook/Instagram. She’s getting so big y’all and is talking so much — its so hard to believe we have a full-fledged toddler on our hands!

Anyways, the next few months will prove to be busy and exciting as you can imagine (birthdays, moving, more projects, etc) so I hope to keep this as up-to-date as I can. πŸ™‚
