13 Months

This was quite the month for Andie! The day after her birthday we traveled down to Charlotte for my sister-in-law’s wedding. Daniel and I were both in the wedding so Andie’s Uncle David had her most of the weekend! She had such a great time and was in a great mood (although she hardly slept at night while we were there…) all weekend long. The wedding was so beautiful and I’m so glad we were able to be there and participate!!

Then we celebrated Memorial Day and my birthday at the end of the month, she tried ice cream for the first time at Bergey’s Breadbasket (BEST ice cream–its made fresh there with seasonal flavors!) and checked out some farm animals…

Then on June 4th, Andie had her big surgery. Everything went really well and recovery was pretty good too. Andie’s eyes were swollen shut for almost an entire week and then it took them a while to get back to their normal degree of openness but they eventually did! We had so much help from my parents and Daniel’s mom during it all – thank goodness! Her sleep took a while to get back in order. For the almost entire week we were at the hospital and then a week after that, Andie had to be held for naps and all night long because she refused to be left in the crib. 😦 After that second week, we were able to lay her down in the crib at night and she was fine but it took an additional week to get her to go back in the crib for naps. Her scar is looking great as well and she’s been back to her normal self! One of these days I’ll write a separate in-depth post about the surgery and recovery but its still hard to get myself back to that place to really write about it.

Lastly, we celebrated Father’s Day! This was Daniel’s second Father’s Day and we all had a good time. Daniel’s dad and stepmom came up for the weekend because Daniel and his dad played in a Father/Son golf tournament with my dad and brother. That Saturday we all went out to dinner and gelato and then hung out at Town Center listening to some live music and watching Andie run around and have a good time 🙂 It was a perfect summer evening! The next day I took Andie over to my in-law’s hotel and my mother-in-law took us to the indoor pool there. It was Andie’s first time in a pool and it took her a little bit to warm up to it but once she did she really seemed to enjoy it! So glad she loves the water! Once the guys got back from golf and got cleaned up, we headed over to my parents’ house and ate an amazing dinner together. It was such a great weekend!

+pointing to things she wants or is interested in

+loving Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and Sesame Street

+obsessing over her iPod Nonna gave her

  1. Wow! I had tears in my eyes just looking at that sweet babe in the hospital bed. You are a very strong momma with a very strong baby! I’m so glad to hear you guys are recovering so well.

    • Thank you so much 🙂 I still tear up seeing the pictures of her from the hospital but I just remind myself how well she’s doing and where we are at now!
