Little miss Andie is 3 weeks old today!! I can definitely already see a difference in her between her 2 week old photo and this week’s. She’s starting to get those arm and leg rolls that every parent is dying to see because chunky baby rolls are just the cutest, I don’t care who you are! As you can see in the photo above, Andie has a little smirk on her face and this has become pretty common within the past week or so. She is smiling more and more especially since her awake/alert time is getting longer during the day. Those little smiles are THE BEST!!
Andie has also started to enjoy and seemed engaged when we do tummy time on her activity gym. During the first and second week she didn’t care for it much and I think a lot of it had to do with her acid reflux and not liking to be on her back. Now that we’ve made progress in that area I introduced her to the activity gym again and she really seemed to like it!! She stares at the different little animals hanging down and stops what she’s doing as soon as she hears the music being played from one of them–so happy we have another way to play with her! Andie also LOVES going outside. Many times I’ve found that if she gets a little fussy, just walking around with her in the backyard calms her down instantly. She stares up at the sky and trees, she can hear the birds chirping, and feel the breeze. She’s fallen asleep in my arms out there more than once!
Eating and sleeping has gotten better as well. Its rough breastfeeding every 2 – 3 hours but I know its the best thing for her! I don’t particularly enjoy breastfeeding as much as I thought I would but I think that may change as she gets older and we both have the whole feeding thing down pat. As for sleeping, we’ve gotten her to sleep in her bassinet for naps and at nighttime which has been great!! The secret for Andie at least is to hold her until we know she’s definitely asleep and then laying her in there. That is the most practical way for her to sleep in there right now but we’ll have to graduate to just placing her in the bassinet and crib and letting her fall asleep on her own at some point down the line. We really don’t mind those chest snuggles anyway 🙂
This past week Andie and I made our first visit to Grandma and Grandpa’s house too! My parents wanted to have something for Andie to sit in when we go over there so before we showed up, my dad ran out and got a snugabunny seat for her–so cute!! It vibrates and makes sounds; she seemed to like it!
