Surprise Ultrasound!

We finally had another appointment today and it was one of the best! We arrived under the assumption that I would be getting basic routine exams and listening to the heartbeat but as I was the only patient there and things seemed slow, the nurse asked if I’d like to do an ultrasound! We were SO excited! We saw the baby right away and couldn’t believe what we were seeing — head, legs, hands, feet, spine, heart….our baby finally looks like a baby!! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Not only that, but the baby was pretty active the whole time…spinning around, moving arms and legs, and the cutest thing ever — hiccups! It was so adorable! The only bummer is that we couldn’t tell the sex (I’m betting that if our doctor were there she may have been able to tell) BUT we will be finding out the gender on JANUARY 2!! I will most definitely be counting down the days until that appointment! We can’t stop talking about how amazing it was seeing the baby as compared to the first time when it just looked like a little jellybean at 9 weeks. The amount of growth in such a short period of time is really unbelievable! Most of the time it still doesn’t feel like I am pregnant, regardless of the growing belly, and to see that little person on the screen was still completely surreal. I love our little baby so much already but I’m still waiting for it to feel real – maybe when I start feeling movement?! I’m paying close attention!

  1. Congratulations! It is amazing how much they change in just a few weeks. You will be so shocked how big the baby looks at your next ultrasound. If they do 3D images you will get to see how much your little one already looks like a baby!
